HOW LONG DOES A HOME INSPECTION TAKE?
A typical inspection can take 2 or more hours to complete, this depends on the type and size of the property. As a courtesy we recommend the sellers informed of the timeframe in a pre-purchase home inspection situation. There are various sizes of properties in the sea to sky region, each type takes a different amount of time.

DO I NEED TO BE THERE FOR THE HOME INSPECTION?
Being present for the home inspection provides a learning opportunity for many home purchasers. This also provides time to ask those important questions and discuss any defects that may be found. We recommend that you meet your inspector at the end of the inspection for a walkthrough of the property to go over their findings, this typically takes 30-40 minutes. Often buyers cannot make it to the property on the day of inspection, that is ok, Our reports are very throrough and include lots of photos and diagrams. This helps so we can make a appointment to go over the report on the phone once the report has been issued.

DO YOU OFFER ANY WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES?
A home inspection is a professional opinion based, It’s a little like getting a check-up from your doctor. It improves your odds of good health but there is no guarantee or warranty. Some problems can only be discovered by living in a house, they sometimes cannot be discovered during a home inspection due to the limited time spent on site. For example: some shower stalls leak when people use the shower but don’t leak when you simply turn on the shower. Some roofs and basements only leak when specific weather conditions exist. Some problems will only be discovered when carpets are lifted, walls are opened, furniture is removed. We do not offer warranties or guarantees

WHAT DO YOU INSPECT?
Elevation Home Inspections inspects the major systems of the house. These include the Roof, Exterior, Structure, Electrical, Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Insulation, and Interior. The goal is to identify any existing major problems, as well as educate buyers on maintence that can help systems work more effectively and efficiently.

DO I GET A WRITTEN REPORT?
We issue a report using software called Tap Inspect, this software provides concise information in a clear and easy to follow format. It would be difficult for buyers to remember all of the topics that are covered during a home inspection. The report includes a summary of the condition of the home and details on all the major systems of the home. It is delivered within 24 hours after the inspection.

WILL YOU TELL US TO BUY OR NOT BUY THE HOME?
This is something we do not do, the goal of a Elevation Home Inspections is to report on the condition of the house based on the examination and evaluation of the various systems, indicating potential repairs and expenses on the day of inspection. Ultimately, it is your decision as to whether or not you buy the house., what might be right for you may not be right for the inspector or someone else, only you know what is best for you and your family and what you are willing to take on.

CAN I ASK QUESTIONS?
Of Course! You may want to bring some questions that you have regarding the home. If the comments or explanations you receive during the walk through are not clear, please ask for further explanation. If buyers have questions later after the inspection or after the report has been issued Elevation Home Inspections is only a text, email or phone call away to answer any questions you may have.

WILL YOU PROVIDE COSTS ESTIMATES FOR REPARS?
Home Inspectors at Elevation Home Inspections do not offer quotes on repairs when defects are found that require minor or major repair. Home Inspectors are not General Contractors and do not know that costs associated with the repairs needed as the vary depending on market conditions, labor involved and costs of materials. If a defect is found during a home inspection sometimes a qualified contractor is required to evaluate further and provide options and estimates on repairs.

CAN I SHARE MY REPORT?
After your receive your report it is yours, you are the owner of the document and can share it with who you wish, weather it is your realtor, or friends and family.

DO BRAND NEW HOMES NEED INSPECTIONS?
Many people think because the home is new they may not need an inspection, While it is true many of the systems in the home will be new its the inspectors job to make sure that everything was built and installed correctly to manufactures specifications to meet warrantee requirements in the future and will last to its suggested life expediency. We at Elevation Home Inspections also offer various stages of warranty inspections such as 1-2-5-10 year warranties.

WHATS INCLUDED IN THE INSPECTION FEE?
Included is home inspection conducted to the CAHPI Standards "The Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors" by an experienced and licensed professional. This also included a comprehensive and professional digital home inspection report including photos.

DO BRAND NEW HOMES NEED INSPECTIONS?
Tyler Weed is a graduate of the Carson Dunlop Home Inspectors Training Program (Canada) and a member of the the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI). He is licensed with the Business Practices & Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA), which is regulated under provincial government legislation. Tyler attends continuous education training seminars, programs and conferences to ensure that his credentials are maintained with CAHPI. Tyler has worked in various areas of the construction industry prior to becoming a home inspector in the sea to sky corridor. He is experienced in how many systems and components are installed and familiar with many of the latest building products in the market, familiar with there uses and how they should be installed.
